Stand West LLC, doing business as The Stand West (“we”, “us”), runs the comedy club at 407 West 15th St, New York, and this website. This policy covers what we collect through the website, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It does not cover the sites we link to, including our ticketing provider.
The short version: we collect what you choose to send us, a small amount of technical information that keeps the site running and secure, and nothing for advertising. We do not sell personal information.
2 · What You Send Us
We only get these if you fill something in:
Contact form. Your name, email address, the topic you pick and your message. It is sent to our team by email. Our website software also keeps a short record of each message sent — the sender’s email address, IP address and the time — to stop abuse. To keep out automated spam, the form asks you to type a word from an image; the site holds that word with your IP address for a couple of hours so it can check your answer.
Private event inquiries. Your name, email address and, if you give them, phone number and company, plus the details of your event: what it is, the date and times, how many people, anything else you want us to know and how you heard about us. This form is provided by Tripleseat, the event-management service we use to plan events, so what you enter goes to our account there.
Mailing list. Your email address, if you sign up for lineup emails. Our list is run by Hive, the email service The Stand uses, and it is the same list as The Stand at 116 E 16th St.
Email to us directly. Whatever you write, and your address.
3 · Cookies & Logs
The site sets a few small cookies that it needs to work. None of them track you across other websites, and we do not use advertising cookies.
exp_csrf_token
Security. Proves a form was sent from this site and not forged by another one. Expires after two hours.
exp_tracker
Remembers the last five pages you viewed here, so a form can return you to the right place. Deleted when you close your browser.
exp_flash
Carries a confirmation or error message to the next page after you send a form. Deleted when you close your browser.
Our content delivery provider may also set a short-lived cookie to filter out automated traffic.
Our email service. Every page loads a small script from Hive, which runs our mailing list. It records which pages of this site you view and where you came from. If you are on our list, Hive can connect those visits to your subscription, so the emails we send you are about shows you are likely to care about. Hive may use its own cookies to do this; its privacy policy explains them.
Like every website, our servers record basic request information — IP address, browser type, the page asked for and the time — to keep the site running and to investigate abuse. We do not use it to identify you.
4 · Tickets
Tickets are sold by Tixr. When you buy one, you are on Tixr’s site and its own privacy policy applies. Tixr shares your order details with us as the venue, so we can run the show, manage the door and contact you if something about your show changes.
5 · How We Use It
To answer you, and to plan an event you asked us about.
To send lineup emails, if you signed up. Every one has a link to stop them.
To run the club: your show, your tickets, the door.
To keep the site secure and working.
When the law requires it.
6 · Who Else Sees It
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. The only other people who handle it are the companies that run things for us — website hosting, content delivery, email, our mailing list (Hive), ticketing and event planning (Tripleseat) — and only to do that job. We will also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our guests, staff or venue.
7 · How Long We Keep It
Messages and inquiries are kept for as long as we need them to deal with what you asked and for our ordinary business records. Your mailing list address is kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for a short period and then deleted.
8 · Your Choices
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time with the link in each one. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us. We may need to confirm it is you first, and we may keep what the law requires us to keep.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site’s forms may not work without them.
9 · Everything Else
Children. Our shows are for adults and this site is not meant for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13; if you think we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Security. The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable steps to protect what you send us. No system is perfectly secure.
Other sites. We link to Tixr, Google Maps, Instagram, X, TikTok and The Stand at thestandnyc.com. What they collect is covered by their own policies.
Changes. If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date at the top.
